“Blurring the Lines”: a poem by Shawntaye M. Scott

Swathed by an aroma of sycamore

she relishes in her capacity to destroy

the queues of ancestral guilty dreams

shuttered upon her immature body.

Her untamed notoriety is disgraceful

she embodies the opposite of the times

independent and undeterred by anyone

she stroked her ego with immense pride.

No amount of societal & familial strain

infiltrates her innate intuitive desire

to exist on Earth’s planetary terrain

devoid of human made invisible tiers.

She cranes to the white dotted black sky

immersed in the vast, lush, woodland

fearlessly living life on her own terms

against manmade societal barriers.
